How we write and check our questions

Where our content comes from, and how to tell us when something’s wrong.

Who makes this site

California DMV Prep 2026 is made by ChowChow Labs, an independent studio. We are not a driving school and we are not connected to the California DMV or the State of California. California DMV Prep 2026 is an independent study aid by ChowChow Labs. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the California DMV or the State of California. The questions are original practice questions, not actual DMV test questions, and practice scores don't guarantee you'll pass. Always study the current official California Driver Handbook.

Where our content comes from

  • The California Driver Handbook on the DMV’s website is our main source for rules, signs and numbers. We use it to check rules only; our wording and pictures are our own.
  • The DMV’s own pages are where we send you for test format, fees and licensing steps, because they change.
  • Questions, explanations, lessons, sign illustrations and road diagrams are original. We don’t copy DMV test questions or other prep sites’ question banks or wording.

How each question is checked

  • Each question is tied to a specific handbook section, which is linked next to its explanation.
  • Numbers (distances, speeds, ages) are checked against the current handbook, and the explanation says why the answer is right and what the common mistake is.
  • Where the handbook gives safety advice rather than a legal rule, we try to say so instead of presenting advice as law.
  • The whole bank (20 mock exams, 400 questions) was last reviewed in November 2026. We recheck it when the handbook changes.

Our questions are not reviewed or approved by the DMV, and practice scores don’t predict your result on the real test.

Report an error

Every public question has a Report an error link. You can also email chowchowbuy@gmail.com with the question number and, if you can, a link to the handbook section. We check every report against the handbook and fix confirmed errors.

Corrections log

  • November 1, 2026: Final pass on the bank: fixed a few wrong answers that could be argued as right, and removed wording that gave answers away.
  • October 30, 2026: Reworded questions to keep clear of the DMV handbook’s and sample tests’ wording, and reworked wrong answers so the right one isn’t given away by its length.
