This is the same plan as in our iPhone app. Each day, read the lesson, then the matching part of the California Driver Handbook, and finish with practice questions. Keep a list of anything you get wrong.

  1. Day 1: Signs and signals. Read the sign lessons and do the road signs practice test. Open the lesson.
  2. Day 2: Right of way. Intersections, pedestrians, crossings and roundabouts. Open the lesson.
  3. Day 3: Lanes and turns. Lane markings, turn lanes and passing. Open the lesson.
  4. Day 4: Hazards. Speed, space, weather and night driving. Open the lesson.
  5. Day 5: Sharing the road. Bikes, trucks, buses and emergency vehicles. Open the lesson.
  6. Day 6: Permits and parking. Permit rules, curb colors and hill parking. Open the lesson.
  7. Day 7: Mixed review. Take a mock exam, then practice what you missed. Choose a mock exam.

On Day 6, also read the parking and backing lesson. The night before your test, take one more mock exam, check what to bring and get a good night’s sleep.

Next: Permit test tips. Practical ways to pass the knowledge test the first time.
